Florence Pinhorn received her instructions from a number of NL artists but she became serious in 1992, 1993, and 1994 during private lessons from the very well known and award winning artist and teacher Barbara Dorey from her studios in Halifax and Morden Nova Scotia. From Barbara, Florence learned charcoal and pastel and all the laws concerning light and shadow and drawing.
Florence has been successful in receiving Honorable Mention in one of her entries in the Arts and Letters contest as well as having three pieces of her work purchased from the Government of Newfoundland. Florence’s fascination for painting began as a child and her favourite medium is pastel.
She particularly likes painting flora, fauna and portraiture. Florence has had five very successful solo exhibitions and has also participated in many group exhibitions. Florence enjoys drawing and painting and the struggle to be the very best that she can be.
