The Peter Lewis Gallery is thrilled to present Rhythm of Colour, a panoramic perspective of light and imagination. The exhibition includes new works by Peter Lewis featuring both large-scale panoramas and uncharacteristic smaller works by the artist. The collection of 21 paintings on exhibit present a vivid and breathtaking perspective of life by the sea. Alive with light and vibrancy, the work includes St. John’s streetscapes and rural communities, capturing the powerful connection between the land, ocean and people of our province.
Rhythm of Colour includes the largest painting that Peter has created – his captured the view of downtown St. John’s on a 60” x 156” diptych canvas that includes landmarks such as the Basilica, Signal Hill, and the Anglican Cathedral. Equally unique for this exhibition, are the smaller pieces being featured. True to form, the ability to stir wonder and energy is richly captured regardless of the size and scale of each piece in the series.
Newfoundland and Labrador is a constant source of inspiration for the artist. “I create each piece hoping it will both move and capture the imagination of the audience. My goal is for people to see the beauty that I see in our province and experience their own sense of wonder from the collection’, says Peter Lewis.
The Opening Reception available to the public is on June 22, 2018 from 7 to 9:30. The show runs until July 22, 2018.
